We are passionate about coffee and community

Our goal at Moxie is to provide an atmosphere that facilitates community while offering a variety of beverages for coffee lovers (and even the haters). There’s just something about coffee that invites conversation and relationships. Whether you’re hanging with a friend or having a business meeting, we are dedicated to making it a memorable experience through our carefully crafted drinks and friendly staff.

We have a strong desire to take care of our customers --with amazing coffee and service; coffee farmers-- with fair and excellent sourcing; our environment-- with compostable, recyclable and reusable containers.

Moxie Coffee Company wants to leave the smallest imprint possible on the environment and is making a strong effort to reduce waste. Let’s take care of this beautiful world together!

About our building…

We could’ve chosen a number of other places to locate, but we wanted to be a part of Seymour’s downtown revitalization. We landed on this location built in 1885 and purchased the historic commercial building in December of 2020 (that’s right…during an international pandemic).

After a year of architectural planning to address structural issues and a change of use upstairs and updating construction costs for the bank (because of the pandemic), we began construction in January of 2022. Our desire was to maintain the historic beauty while updating it and making it structurally sound. The end result is a piece of art that you just need to come see for yourself!

In addition to the cafe, we have a meeting room in the back, called the Kill Floor, that is available for rent by the hour. Our building used to be Steinker Meat Market and the Kill Floor was…well….

During the renovation we kept some original pieces but changed the concept. Call to reserve it today!

Upstairs we created a wonderful and spacious short term rental apartment! Check it out here:

About Montica

I graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations from the University of Kentucky. The last 15 years I have managed our family’s home as CEO and Chaos Coordinator/Taxi Driver for our three children, volunteering in the community and with church.

I had a year long stint as a barista many years ago (as Monday Montica), but recently attended Texas Coffee School’s Business & Barista training program as my desire to open a coffee shop began to grow.

Hobbies include running, dancing to 90s rap and traveling the world with my husband...drinking all the espresso.

Once all our kids were in school, I began prayerfully searching for what was next in this new season of life.

As I thought about my passions in life (realizing gangster rap probably wasn’t in the cards), coffee and people kept rising to the top. For 20+ years I thought it would be “fun” to own my own coffee shop, but didn’t actually think I was capable of starting my own business...since I had no business background.  There was fear. But I couldn’t get the idea out of my head…what’s the fun in life if you never step outside your comfort zone and take risks?
